JANIS BURKE

Big Stone Gap, VA – Janis Burke, 78, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN. She was born in Appalachia, VA and lived in Big Stone Gap most of her life. She loved her canine, “Buttercup”. She devoted her life to her husband, Roy. Janis never met a stranger. She attended Cedar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church in the Crackers Neck Community.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Burke; her father, Luther Anderson; her mother, Pauline Myra Moore Anderson and brothers, Ronald Anderson and June Anderson.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Burke (Wanda Fannon); sister, Deanna McKinney and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 4:30pm at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 5650 Powell Valley Road, Big Stone Gap, VA.
