WILLIAM MONROE COLLIER

William Monroe Collier was born May 18, 1932 to Edgar and Georgia Gilly Collier in East Stone Gap, VA. He joined the Army at a young age and spent 25 years serving his country during the Korea and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a highly decorated veteran earning the Bronze Star Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, United Nations Service Medal , along with the Korean Service Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Edith (Jackie) Smyth, Brothers, Harry, Howard, Roy and Paul Collier, also the mother of his children Louise Hall Collier.
Survivors are daughters Kathy Collier, Vicki (Peter) Hyde, and son William Bud (Jeannie) Collier, brother Larry Sylvan (Sue) Collier both of Duffield, Special Nephews Larry (Sharon) and Scott Collier, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. for a graveside service at Mountain Home National Cemetery. The active duty Army National Guard will conduct military honors for Mr. Colliers' final rites. An online register is available for the family at www.holdingfuneralhome.com
