INMAN, VA- Don H. Estridge, 81, of Appalachia, VA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all. After graduating from Appalachia High School, he served in the US Army. He was a brick mason by trade and retired from the US Postal Service. He was the pastor of Looney Creek Memorial Baptist Church for many years. Don was a man of deep faith and unwavering devotion to God. He spent his early morning hours in prayer, speaking to his Heavenly Father with a heart full of reverence. His love for God was the foundation of his life and he dedicated himself to worshipping and honoring the Lord every day.
He was preceded in death by his son, Monte Estridge; parents, Samuel and Georgia Estridge, sister, Agnes Linville; brothers, Joel Estridge, Linzey Estridge, Jerry (Joyce) Estridge, William Estridge, Tim Estridge and Lanny Estridge.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene Estridge; son Thomas Estridge; daughters, Deidra (Glen) Hylton, Jennifer (Andy) Wolfe, Stephanie (Colt) Fletcher, and Rebecca Estridge; Grandchildren, Haley (Trey) Moore, Colten Fletcher, Chloe Fletcher, Averie Fletcher, Tristan Allen, Gabriella Estridge, Jasper Wolfe & Rylee Wolfe; sisters, Mary Wilder and Audrey (Tom, deceased) Tucker, brothers, Johnny (Shirley, deceased) Estridge, Randall Estridge; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Tuesday, December 3, at Roy A Green Funeral Home in Appalachia, VA from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Funeral services were conducted by son-in-law, Glen Hylton and lifelong friend Fleeman Partin on Wednesday, December 4, at 12:00 in the funeral home chapel. Burial followed in American Legion Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, VA. Pallbearers were Tristan Allen, John Clark, Aaron Estridge, John Allen Estridge, Lee Estridge, Thomas Estridge, Colt Fletcher, Colten Fletcher, Glen Hylton, Fleeman Partin, Andy Wolfe, Jasper Wolfe.
