BARBARA CHRISTINE McCOY

Barbara Christine McCoy, 89, passed peacefully at her home in Big Stone Gap on Thursday, November 21, 2024. She was the daughter of Ogle and Sybil Collins. She was a graduate of Appalachia High School and was raised in Roda, VA. She worked as a teacher’s aide at East Stone Gap Elementary School and was the office manager of the McCoy Construction Company. She is finally reunited with her husband of 70 years, Dan McCoy; her son, Chris McCoy; her only grandson, Ryan McCoy. Barbara was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Collins. 

She is survived by her daughter, Dana Wolf and husband Edward of Richmond, VA; daughter-in-law, Lora McCoy; very special sister-in-law, Tootie Mulligan; many other relatives and friends whom she admired and clearly loved. 

The family received friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home in Appalachia, VA. Funeral services were conducted in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. with Minister Greg Townsend officiating. Procession followed to Powell Valley Memorial Gardens for the committal.
