PATRICIA "PATSY" COLLINS

Patricia Nelson Collins ("Patsy"), 83, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at her daughter's home in Roanoke surrounded by family. Patsy was born August 21, 1940 in Exeter, Virginia. She was the daughter of Lester and Verna Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Verlin Kenneth Collins, her sister, Loretta Creech and her brother, Herman Nelson. Patsy and her husband raised their family in Appalachia and lived there for over sixty years. Pasty was well known in her town for contributions to her community, her famous peanut butter roll, but most of all for her kindness. She was a member of the Appalachia Women’s Club. Patsy was also an active member of the Appalachia United Methodist Church and the Holston Conference United Methodist Women. Patsy devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members, including her mother. Her family members are eternally grateful for the love, time and commitment she gave to all of them. Patsy is survived by her daughter, Sonia Smith (Criss); son, Kenneth Lee Collins; brother, Barry Nelson (Nita); sister, Sandra George (Joe); sister in law, Barbara McCoy; grandchildren, Amber Zax, John Revilla, Dylan Martin, Zachary Collins, Tylor Compton, Natalie Collins; great grandchildren, River Morgan Stewart, Lilli Gibson, Shawn Riley, Camerann Zax, Patrick Zax, McCoy Tredinnick, Zander Revilla, Saylor Revilla, Holland Revilla, Willow Martin, Aspen Martin, Wyatt Martin, Wren Martin ; several nieces, nephews, and friends. The family received friends from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the Roy A. Green Funeral Home. Services followed at 7 in the funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. David Rose. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am Thursday at the Riverview Cemetery East Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10 am for the procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Lee Collins, John Revilla, Zachary Collins, Richard Tredinnick, Trey Smith, and Jon Zax, Dylan Martin. Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia is serving the Collins family.
