Marilyn attended the Presbyterian Church in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. She taught at Sugar and Spice Pre-School and in the Mountain Empire Community College Child Development Program. She was very involved in community organizations and activities in her many years in Big Stone Gap as well.

She loved her family and Pleasant Lake where she was able to enjoy and share with her family and others all the care and benefits of lake living. She loved the grounds and cabins her parents established and the many guests that returned to the lake every year. She was known throughout the community for her work ethic and many acts of kindness.

Other additional family members that survive her are her sisters: Sharon (Joe) Gheraldi, Staten Island, New York, and Sandra (Dave) Brockett, Pleasant Lake, Indiana.
