KATHRYN ANN MITCHELL

Kathryn “Kathy” Ann Mitchell, age 64, of Big Stone Gap, VA, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center in Johnson City, TN.

Born April 7, 1959, to the late Dewey and Emaline Frazier Mitchell, Kathy devoted her life to being a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and had devoted her working career to being a self-employed beautician for many years. She also enjoyed beautiful flowers and hummingbirds. Kathy will be missed dearly.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, George Mitchell, Gilbert Mitchell and Infant Boy Mitchell; and two sisters, Shirley Keesee and Betty Southerland.

Survivors include, one son, Matthew Mitchell; one step- daughter, Larena Williams; three brothers, Gerald “Wegie” Mitchell, Terry Mitchell and Steve (Mary Jane) Mitchell; three sisters, Clara Jane Bolling, Patsy (Steve) Hubbard and Barbara Jean (Merwyn) Chase; two grandchildren, Nevaeh Mitchell and Sir Rolland Parker Mitchell; special sister and niece, Deborah Knapp; ex-husband and special friend, Gary Cross; five nieces, Angela Mitchell, Sharley Rutherford, Skyla Baker, Chasity Worley and Tiffany Boggs; one nephew, Blake Mitchell; special best friend for over forty years, Theresa Hyatt; and beloved cat, “Cali”.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, VA on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 2 p.m., with special speakers and music by Barbara Riddle and Patrick Doyle. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, from 1 p.m. until time of services.
