RONALD EARL BARKER

Ronald Earl “Bat” Barker, 83, passed away on March 16, 2024 at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born to Wanda and Earl Barker and lived in his hometown of Appalachia, VA until he graduated high school. He then joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas. Ronald returned to school after his military training and became an established psychologist. He was an avid reader and loved anything about ancient times. He loved to travel and see different things.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, as well as brothers, Roger Barker and Larry Barker.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cobenna Clark Barker (Johnson City, TN); brother, Dennis Barker and wife Kelli (Myrtle Beach, SC); several nieces and nephews; life-long friend who he considered a brother, Randy Blair (Andover, VA).

The family will receive friends at Roy A. Green Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with Chris Fisher officiating. Military rites will be conducted at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery entrance no later than 10:45 a.m. for procession to the committal shelter.
