CHARMA KATE THOMPSON MULLINS

Charma Kate Thompson Mullins 89 of Sanford NC passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, at Portside Grande Dunes Myrtle Beach SC.

Charma was born in Clinchport VA February 18, 1934, to Elijah Truman and Mary Ester Thompson. An Appalachia native she graduated from Appalachia High School in 1954. She continued her education and obtained a bachelor of science in nursing. She was an employee of Lonespine Hospital for many years and received several awards including Employee of the Year in 1984. Charma was also an active member of the Baptist Church in Big Stone Gap. Charma recently received her 50-year veteran's pin from the Order of the Eastern Star. She and her husband John Mullins Sr. of Big Stone Gap were married for 49 years and raised 5 children.

Charma was preceded in death by her husband, 8 siblings, and her parents.

Survived by her children Anita Mullins of Cameron NC, Tamara Mullins Clarey (Walter) of Lillington NC, Mary Elaina Mullins Back (Joseph) of Spring Lake NC, Krista Mullins Butler (George) Myrtle Beach SC, and John D. Mullins Jr. Of Cameron NC. She had 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
