BARBARA JEAN HILL
Barbara Jean Hill (nee Vandergriff), 84 of Dundalk, Maryland, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, due to a lengthy illness. She lived in Dundalk for 26 years.
She was born May 27, 1938, in Harlan, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pastor/Founder Robert J. Hill; Charles Foster Vandergriff (father); Lillie Mae Vandergriff (nee Johnson; mother); William Monroe Vandergriff (brother); and Betty Sue Mullins (nee Vandergriff; sister).
She is survived by four children: Pastor Robert “Bobby” Hill and wife, Diana; William “Billy” Hill; Terrie “Sissie” Dye and husband, Darryl; and Eddie Hill and wife, Stacy; along with five grandchildren: Jonathan Hill, Rachel Hill, Cara Dye-O’Leary and husband, Patrick O’Leary; Emma Dye; and Andrew Jonathan “AJ” Hill. She is also survived by one brother, Don Vandergriff.
Until her passing, she was the matriarch of her church and family. She always strived to give her best in work, church, family and friendships. She is also known for having a servant’s heart. She had the ability to show care to those she met who needed it most. Her love of God and family were endless. Her legacy endures through her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 12 p.m. Interment followed in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
