DORIS ANNE SPROLES

August 17, 1946 – October 2, 2021

Doris Elliott Sproles passed into the hands of Jesus after a lengthy illness on Oct 2, 2021, with her husband and daughters by her side, released her into his care.

She was born and raised in Appalachia, VA, and resided in Knoxville TN with her family until her passing. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cumberland Baptist Church.

Doris was a state social work employee who assisted many people in Knox County until her retirement in 2010.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Carson Elliott and Rose Elizabeth Elliott.

She was a devoted wife to Ralph Sproles, and would have celebrated their 55th anniversary on Oct. 21. She was a loving mother to her two girls, Deidre Michelle Welch and Monica Denise Edmonds. She was Nana to her three precious grandchildren, Cole Elliott Welch, Carson Elise Welch and Chase Ashley Edmonds. She adored her two sons-in-law, Timothy Cole Welch and John Ashley Edmonds. She is also survived by her immediate family and special sisters, Barbara Ann Golden Gibson and Betty Sue Golden Davis.

Doris’ family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center of North Knoxville for their 11 years of excellent care. Due to Covid, a private Graveside Service will be held to celebrate her life on Wednesday, October 6 with family.
