CHERYL LYNN CLENDENON

Cheryl Lynn Clendenon, age 59, of Big Stone Gap, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at Lonesome Pine Hospital due to a heart attack and related health problems.  

She was a graduate of Appalachia High School and was a licensed Registered Nurse with Lonesome Pine Hospital and Clinic for many years.  Cheryl was a devout Christian and loved reading and studying the Bible.  She led a short prayer service each morning with colleagues.  She enjoyed gardening and decorating her home.  Cheryl was a great friend and she had a wonderful sense of humor.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ethel & Ed Grubb and Ray & Mabel Clendenon, and her father, Carl Edward (Sam) Clendenon.  

She is survived by her mother, Angela Grubb Clendenon of Roda, and her brother, Eddie Ray Clendenon of Derby.  She is also survived by her Uncles, Bob Clendenon (Janice), Jim Clendenon, Edgar “Buddy” Grubb (Benice), and Don Grubb (Jerrie), along with numerous relatives and friends.  

Due to an abundance of caution to protect friends and family due to COVID-19, an outdoor graveside service was held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.  Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia was honored to serve the Clendenon family.
