Friends of the Southwest Virginia Museum Reschedule “Annual Plant Sale” and Backyard Habitat Workshops

Big Stone Gap, VA. Due to forecasted inclement weather for this weekend, the scheduled Friends of the Museum plant sale and workshops for Saturday, April 24 have been canceled and rescheduled for Saturday, May 8 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Celebrate spring with a day of garden-related events and workshops sure to appeal to your green thumb. Local growers, plant enthusiasts and all other members of the public are invited to enjoy the day’s events that include:

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.-Friends of the Southwest Museum Historical State Park Annual Plant Sale-The friends group will offer plants from $1 to $5 to jumpstart your 2021 growing season.

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.-Backyard Habitat Workshops-Participants will learn how to make their own bee/insect hotel to attract bees and other beneficial insects to their yards. A mini greenhouse for starting their own plants. A toad/frog abode to help battle unwanted bugs in their garden and, a pollinator watering station for attracting butterflies and other pollinators to their yard or garden.

Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot today. Workshops are $5 per workshop, or attend all four workshops for a discount of $15. Pre-Registration is required. All supplies and materials will be provided. Registration and payment deadline is Friday, April 30 by 4 p.m.

Due to current state Covid guidelines, social distancing is required between those not in the same household. Masks are required to be worn inside all state owned facilities.
