Utility customers to get relief
January 15, 2021
BIG STONE GAP — Town Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a resolution that will cover late payments and interest for utility customers.
The town received nearly $50,000 in federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding. The money will be used to cover the penalties and/or interest for customers who have enrolled in the Municipal Utility Relief Program.
Town Manager Steve Lawson reiterated that the town is not paying customers’ water bills. The program is only for people who have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
Customers should contact the water department to make arrangements.
A healthy Wise County requires great community news.
