Income tax deadline coming soon

October 25, 2020

If you haven’t done so, you have until Nov. 1 to file your Virginia individual income taxes.

However, because that day is a Sunday, you have until Monday, Nov. 2 to submit your return.

The filing deadline was extended because of disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Things to keep in mind include:

• The standard deductions have changed to $4,500 for individuals and $9,000 for married couples filing jointly.

• If your 2019 income was $69,000 or less, you may be eligible to file electronically for free.

To track your refund, use the Virginia Tax “Where’s my refund?” tool or call the automated refund system, 804/367-2486.
