Happy Anniversary

David and Jerry Kaylor celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on August 25. Lots of years together. We wish them more anniversaries to come.

Celebrates Birthdays

The well known Sandy Thomas celebrated her birthday on August 25.

Our lifelong friend Brenda Elam celebrated her birthday August 26.

Happy Birthday to these two fine ladies.

Water Damage

Due to a hose on the ice maker in our refrigerator dripping water on the wood floor in our kitchen, it was a major problem. The floor in the bathroom and kitchen have now been replaced.

What problems a little drip over a period of years can cause and go unnoticed until it does a lot of damage.

2020-2021 School Year

The school year for 2020- 2021 has begun and it is the most unusual beginning of a school year in our history.

Teachers are at school working and students are at home virtual learning. Never thought we would ever see this come to pass.

Our 8 year old granddaughter, Berkley has her laptop for her work on the desk adjacent to her daddy’s computer work desk. Shawn called her is “New Co-Worker!”

We will see how all this works out the first 9 weeks of grading periods.

Parents are working from home and this is a hard thing to adjust to with the kids at home. Our daughter-in-law is at school each day and Shawn has been working from home since March.

This too shall pass.

Visit to Georgia

Our daughter Sabrina celebrated her 53rd birthday last week and Gary and I drove down to Georgia to be in the celebration with her and her family.
It is a six hour trip to drive and we only had to stop one time at the rest area, drove through a drive through to get our breakfast and ate in our car. Big changes took place for the trip. The one time we were out of the car we wore our masks!
I feel like a bandit getting ready for a holdup. We obey the laws.
We had a very nice visit. Sabrina’s two sons and daughter-in-law came over and we ate food from Olive Garden curbside pick up. All worked out good. Everyone was careful to maintain distancing.

Good News

Some good news to report. Several patients with the Covid virus that were reported several weeks ago in and around Appalachia are doing much better.
This is an answer to prayer.

Corona Virus Chaos

The Corona Virus is responsible for so much chaos in our world today.
We stay at home and wear a mask out in public.
I had an appointment with my eye doctor last week in Kingsport. No one but the patient is allowed in the building. A lady meets you when you step off the elevator and takes your temperature and asks questions. She puts a sticker on you so you can proceed to go into an empty room. Then you are called back and you see lots of patients doing the same thing but chairs are fixed for social distancing. This is caution for the doctor and the entire staff working in the building. It makes it a lot easier to know the patients and the entire staff are following the rules.
All these things takes the pleasure out of shopping, eating out and any other activities we have enjoyed. So we will stay home and wear our masks when we have to venture out. Reminds me of our childhood days when you went to a doctor and came back home.
We ate at home and usually shopped from a Spiegal or Sears catalog.
Church was our social gathering and we all looked forward to attending and seeing our friends and neighbors.
Sounds a lot like “Little House on the Prairie” but that was the way it was in our earlier years. We were all close neighbors and loved one another.
