We send our condolences to the family of Ruth Ann Cline. She had attended the Apostolic Church on Callahan Avenue in Appalachia her entire life. She loved to go to church. Ruth Ann was 63 years old and was in bad health for many years.

We were sorry to learn of the passing of Margaret Gillenwater. Margaret was known and loved for many years at Appalachia High School working as the secretary.

Margaret had made her home in Knoxville, TN for many years.

Return to School Schedule

Everyone is anxious to learn the schedule for the return of the school term this year. With the practice of social distancing in place it will all be totally different for everyone from the teacher, students, parents, caregivers and grandparents. We will know pretty soon what they plan to do. We have never had to make decisions like this in our history. We all have to work together and help one another.

4th of July Visit

Our daughter Sabrina and her husband Richard drove up to Appalachia from Atlanta to visit with us for a few days during the 4th of July holiday. We had not been able to visit with them due to the Covid virus. It is always good when your children come home for a visit.

A Beautiful Sight

It was a beautiful sight to see the large American Flag flowing in the breeze. The Appalachia Fire Dept. ladder truck was parked in the parking lot at the old Kelly View School and the flag was anchored to the ladder that hoisted it high in the air. The beautiful blue sky and white fluffy clouds were truly a beautiful sight to behold.
