SIDNEY ELBERT LAMBERT

Sidney Elbert (Tuffy) Lambert, 86, passed away June 20, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana in the presence of his loving family from complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in Stonega, Virginia on December 11, 1933 to the late Forrest and Daisy Lambert.

Sidney was married for nearly 64 years to the love of his life, Helen “Lorraine” Lawson, the daughter of the late Milam and Maude Lawson. He was a very proud husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife Lorraine, Sidney is survived by his two sons, Randy and Jeff. Randy is married to Terri Cobb Lambert and Jeff is married to Sherrie Boller Lambert. Sidney had three grandchildren. Scott Lambert (wife Carrie), Jessica Lambert Marshall (husband Matt), and Sydney Lambert Ross (husband Jeremy); two great-granddaughters, Skylar and Sawyer Ross. Sidney; four brothers, Delbert (d.), Ellis (d.), C.O., and Forrest Jr, and six sisters, Stella, Opal, Robena, Maurine, Lorrine, and Rue, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sidney proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the time of the Korean War. Sidney was a millwright and a boiler house operator at Evans Milling Company in Indianapolis.

He was a Cub Scout leader, a Boy Scout leader and an Explorer Scout leader. Sidney loved sports, especially football. He was a neighborhood dad to many boys who needed a dad role model. He loved playing cards with his brothers.

During Sidney’s illness and stay in a nursing home, he was never alone and knew he was loved and cared for by his dedicated wife Lorraine, who was by his side every day and many nights. She gave 100 percent of herself to Sidney to keep him as comfortable and cared for as humanly possible. Lorraine and family were all with Sidney at the end, showering him with plenty of love and kisses as he began his heavenly walk with God to perfect peace. His loss is deep and he will be missed terribly.
