AHS 50th year class reunion is Saturday

Black Bear BBQ Is Open

The Black Bear BBQ opened last week and the menu was barbecue, of course, but also burgers on the grill and hot dogs and fries. Each day a new special was available for everyone to enjoy. We have great reports on how good the food is. They will be closed on Sunday.

AHS 50th Year Reunion

Saturday, Sept. 18 please remember the 1971 AHS 50th year class reunion at Bullitt Park in Big Stone Gap from 11 am to 3 pm.

Those attending will need to bring their own food, drinks and a chair. There are picnic tables under the pavilion for eating. This reunion is being hosted by the class of 1971 but all the 70’s classmates are welcome to attend. A group picture of the 1971 class will be taken at 1 pm.

Birthday at Christmas Place

Sunday, I was very pleased to be able to celebrate my 76th birthday with a trip to The Inn at Christmas Place in Tennessee. What better way for a senior citizen to celebrate than with Santa at his home in Tennessee. We love the environment and the decorations! Yes, we wore our masks for safety.

Requests Prayer

Please remember Betty Collins in your prayers. Her brother, Ted Collins, drove her to Bristol to see a nephrologist for severe pain in her back. Betty is having to wear a catheter to protect her kidney. This will be a trial to see if it helps. She was doing much better when we talked last week. Betty asks for her friends to pray for her condition.

Remember Mr. Howard Cummins birthday is September 22. His address is: The Laurels, 5635 BSG Drive, Norton, VA 24273. Cards are a great way to know you are not forgotten by your friends and former students.

Steve Hubbard, an AHS 1962 graduate, is celebrating a birthday on Monday, Sept. 20. We all wish Steve a blessed, happy family celebration for this special day.

Moderna Booster Shot

This Thursday we have an appointment to have our booster injection of the Moderna Covid shot at the Cloverleaf in Big Stone Gap. Appointments only!

Pressure Washing

Our son, Shawn, came down on Saturday to do some pressure washing on the rock wall inside our yard. This is the last of pressure washing this season. We treated him to a dinner at the new BBQ resturant in the former Fuller’s Dept. Store on Main Street in Appalachia. Shawn loves barbecue and so he will certainly make this a place to celebrate special occasions with a good BBQ meal.
