Mitchell chosen to represent Tech at ACC Football Kickoff

Former Union football star James Mitchell will be representing Virginia Tech at the 2021 ACC Football Kickoff. The preseason football event will be held at The Westin Charlotte in Charlotte, N.C. July 21-22 and will be televised on the ACC Network.

Mitchell will be in attendance along with head coach Justin Fuente, quarterback Braxton Burmeister and defensive back Chamarri Conner.

Mitchell led the Hokies in touchdown receptions (four) in the 2020 season. He finished last year with 26 catches for 435 yards. Mitchell has had 18 starts and played 36 games with a total of 47 catches for 796 yards and six touchdowns as well as five rushing touchdowns.

Union youth football announces camp

Bears head coach Travis Turner and staff will be hosting the Union Football Youth Camp at Union High School on July 22 and 23. The camp is available for any Union Middle or Primary School student ages 7-12 who are not entering the eighth grade.

Boys and girls ages 7-9 will attend from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. while children ages 10-12 will attend 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The camp is free of charge.

Union youth football announces draft

Union P-Nut Football will be having another draft for the upcoming season on July 20 at 6 p.m. at Bullitt Park.

Boys and girls ages 7-12 (as long as they are not entering eighth grade) are encouraged to attend and participate.

Union selling reserved seats for football

Reserved seats for Union High School Football games will go on sale beginning July 19. Seats for the season are $75.00 for five home football games. For more information, please contact Athletic Director Elijah Helton at 276-523-1290.
