Railroad Days

Railroad Days has NOT been cancelled this year. In Appalachia, the first week in August, plans are in the making because they have to plan ahead with the vendors and activities for people to enjoy.

The ruling is looking more in favor for outside gatherings without masks. We will wait and see but plan on attending.

Mother’s Day Dinner

Mother’s Day our son, Shawn, prepared supper for our family members. Shawn likes to prepare food on the Blackstone Grill.

I am thankful for our children as all mother’s are thankful.

Blackberry Winter

The long, green extending briars with little white flowers blooming is Blackberry Briars! Yes, it is the time of the year for Blackberry Winter! So now they have their full bloom and berries.

Warm weather is on the way. I cannot remember any more winters this spring.

Cemeteries Mowed

The grass at all the local cemeteries was mowed this Mother’s Day weekend. It was a pleasure to see the gravestones and flowers of our departed family and friends.

Celebrating Birthdays

Tuesday, May 18 a very dear lady from Appalachia will be celebrating her birthday. Sally V. Gibson is this lady. She has sent cards to all her family and friends down through the years on a regular basis for all occasions. Let’s send Sally a card and let her know how much we appreciate her and love her. Happy Birthday to a Godly, kind hearted lady.

Mr. Raymond Davidson also has a birthday on Tuesday, May 18. Raymond has battled cancer and chemo and other life threatening health issues but God has brought him through it all. We wish Raymond Davidson a Happy Birthday.

2022 Blair Family Reunion

There has been a meeting with Randy Blair, Paul Clark, and myself, Susie Richardson. If all is well, next year 2022, we will be hosting another Blair Relative and Friends Precious Memories Gathering.

We have chosen Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 as our tentative date. This is the last Saturday in September next year and they usually have the “Blair Reunion” in Gate City on the last Sunday every September. Choosing this date will enable those wishing to attend both reunions a chance to do that.

Hope to see you there. We will also try to have it at the Andover Community Center again if at all possible.

East Stone Gap High School Alumni Association Annual Banquet

The 96th East Stone Gap School Reunion will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Taylor-Lewis Center in East Stone Gap at 6 p.m.  Doors will open at 5 p.m. A catered meal will be provided by Union High School football parents. The menu consists of chicken tenders, hotdogs, baked beans, slaw, chips, drinks and hot fudge cake for dessert. Price is $20 per person.

This event is open to any graduate, student, and their spouses/friends of this school during its existence.

It is very important that you respond by June 8. The number attending must be confirmed with the caterer so that they have enough time to prepare the food.

Please make your check payable to ESG School Reunion and mail to treasurer Judy Tate Riggs, P.O. Box 24, East Stone Gap, VA 24246. No tickets will be mailed; Judy will have a list of everyone attending and your name tags at the entrance.
