Craft show raises virus questions

October 08, 2020

BIG STONE GAP — The town is trying to figure out a safe way to host the Holiday Craft Show.

The event takes place annually and is scheduled for Nov. 14 and 15 in Carnes Gym.

According to Town Manager Steve Lawson, there is still a strong demand for it. Vendors and shoppers “very much want to have a craft show,” he said during the Oct. 6 council workshop.

Lawson suggested counting people as they come through the door to be able to adhere to social distancing regulations. He also stated that the event would have to be in two locations, such as the gym and the Visitor Center. “If it’s a nice day, we may use the Visitor Center’s outside space.”

Lawson has asked for council’s input on the situation. Council will speak on the issue at the Oct. 13 meeting.
